I've had the chance to use the Meraki equipment extensively. I'll admit that Cisco TAC is better overall - but I haven't had an issue so far that Brocade wasn't able to handle. There is honestly no comparison on price, and not a huge difference in features. After that, it's about $500 for 3 years of support IIRC and you still get lifetime replacement. The Brocade is ~$3,500 MSRP, and includes 3 years of support (next-day RMA, TAC, updates, etc.). The Meraki is $9,985 MSRP, and $1,110 for 3 years of subscription. The Brocade includes 8 SFP+ ports, is stackable up to 12 units, and has everything except for the management stuff. The equivalent of the 7250-48P is the MS320-48FP.
BROCADE SWITCHES FOR FREE
You can try Meraki for free with no obligation: I hear a lot of people object to the subscription/warranty/support/license (whatever you want to call it), but in my opinion it is a great value, especially over 3-5 years. The Meraki subscription includes 24/7 support, lifetime hardware warranty with advanced replacement, all firmware and patches and of course the dashboard and all that goes with it. I would greatly appreciate anyone's input in this matter! Thanks in advance!Ĭisco Meraki support is pretty awesome in my experience. Port management wise, I'd like to do some port aggregation (for higher bandwidth uplinks), 2 VLANS, traffic prioritization, traffic monitoring (see who the hogs are!). It just may be too pricey for what I need. Managing all switches in the different locations will be convenient. I can understand the benefit of it though, especially since our company may have branches in the near future. I'm just not a fan of having to pay subscription fees for the cloud management and monitoring aspect of it. I like the fact that I have a good friend who can support me with this product. He configures them using the CLI (which I find just a bit awkward) and uses 3rd party network monitoring software. Primarily, I just want to move to more reliable enterprise class switches.īrocade was suggested to me by a friend who admins a large network and who swears by their reliability. I'm looking to replace my 8 year old Cisco Linksys Small Business network switches and am trying to decide between Brocade (ICX 7250-48P) or Cisco Meraki (MS220-48FP-HW).
